One of the kings of Judah stressed out about the future. He crunched the numbers and it sure looked like the numbers might end up crunching him. But God assured him he didn’t have anything to worry about. “The Lord has much more to give you than this” (II Chronicles 25:9). God had come through in the past and He would come through again if the king would stick close.
We forget how eager God is to bless us. We settle into a bearable level of life, hoping at best to dodge bad stuff. But God has so much more to give. He is “able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). There are certain things we hope for, but He is ready to shape our lives into something beyond what we hope for.
It all comes down to how far we are willing to trust Him. We might be doing all right, but He challenges us to “excel still more” (I Thessalonians 4:1). Christianity is about always climbing higher. There are so many things waiting for those who remember that God loves to make our lives better.
